Great Precepts Transmission Ceremony 2021
“Go To The Other Shore” is the name (or theme) chosen for the Great Precepts Transmission Ceremony (Đại Giới Đàn in Vietnamese) that as taken place at Deer Park Monastery and broadcasted live. At Plum Village, France we have followed the lead and transmitted the Bhikkhu and Bhikkhunī Precepts, during a ceremony where novice brothers and sisters become fully ordained monastics in the Plum Village Tradition. On first day we have witnessed the Invitation of the Pratimoksha (monastic code) and the transmission of the Bhikkhu Precepts to 14 novice brothers. The second day was reserved for the transmission of the Bhikkhunī Precepts to 13 novice sisters. This was the first time in the history of the Plum Village Community that the Great Precepts Transmission was done simultaneously over three Continents.
